My Twenties

I am almost 20 years old now and I am a freshman so I will most likely be close to 23 by the time I graduate.  Therefore, my school free, independent, completely on my own life, will begin with about seven years left of my twenties.  With those seven years I expect a lot to happen in my own life and in the world.  In my own life, I am sure I will be married around the age of 24 or 25 and hopefully have a career with a bright future.  By the age of 27 I will most likely be having my first child.  Hopefully by then I’ll be working my way up in a company and making decent money.  Having a happy family with a stable job and a nice home would be fulfilling enough for me in my twenties.  In the world however, I expect some negative changes, most likely more wars, probably over oil.  Technology will keep improving and even more advanced phones will be coming out.  Most media will most likely be shown in 3D.  Colleges will start becoming online.  More robotic technologies will start taking over our appliances.  Our world will keep getting smarter and smarter, which in my opinion can cause negative impacts (unless its medically).

Haiti hurt because of Cuban government

Two million dollars’ worth of supplies intended to reach Haiti for their disaster relief sank because of one countries government ignorance.  Harbor Homes LLC said that the Cuban Government wouldn’t allow the U.S. Coast Guard permission to reclaim their drifting barge with the supplies and instead tried to take care of it themselves.  In result, they ended up sinking the barge in the Atlantic.  The barge had three tractors, a bulldozer, and thousands of supplies.  There was enough cargo on the barge to build over 1,000 houses in Haiti.  Excuse my language but this really pisses me off.  Haiti, an extremely poor country devastated by disaster and in desperate need of supplies and sheltering is missing the opportunity of over 1,000 homes because a country doesn’t want to let us into “their waters” to claim our property.  It’s not like there were missiles or military equipment on this barge, it was building supplies.  The Cuban Government should send a public apology to both Harbor Housing LLC and the country of Haiti and also buy the same amount of supplies and send them to Haiti.  When a country is in need we need to forget about politics and government and focus on humanity and helping those in need.  If the hurricane had struck Cuba I’m sure they would have no issues with us entering their waters to bring them supplies.  This is a huge disappointment in my opinion.

Technology Tip

One technology tip I found interesting was on with phone.  I have Verizon Wireless so I’m not sure it’s the same with all carriers.  If you are calling somebody and their phone only rings for 21-23 seconds then goes to voicemail it means they didn’t receive the phone call.  They could have had their phone right beside them and it wouldn’t ring.  Every time it happens to me I call right back and if it does go through, to them, it’s my first time calling.

Being on the water is my escape from reality.  When I’m stressed out, worried, mad, all I have to do is get on a boat be on the water and have a fishing pole in my hand and I become the happiest person in the world.  I believe this is why spring break is so important for college students.  We can get so stressed out and overwhelmed with the struggles of college life, having a week to forget about it all and be who we truly are is a key component in keeping us sane.  Before spring break I had a knot in my stomach because of money issues, grades, and relationship problems, but once that 28 inch redfish grabbed on to my line, I was in heaven.  Overall, for me, it was a successful spring break.  I got to see old friends, I got to spend time with family, I put on a couple pounds, I didn’t have to worry about classes, I mended my relationships, I got my financial problems figured out, but most importantly, I got to spend three whole days doing nothing but sitting on a thirty foot yellow fin, fishing for dinner, with one of my best friends.

Future of College

This article is saying that colleges look like their headed to becoming online.  It says because of high tuition some students are being forced to enroll in online colleges.  Right now the largest college in the United States is Phoenix University, an online college.  Brick-and-mortar universities might be closing down if students’ enrollment starts slacking.  I hate to see this happen honestly.  College is an amazing time for young adults to go off away from home, meet new people, have your own responsibilities and become the person you are.  If college became online more kids would stay home, they wouldn’t meet as many people, they wouldn’t have the experiences and great times, and a big part of their life would be missing.  I don’t want to have to tell my kids what college was and what is was like, I hope they have to opportunity to find out for themselves.

This photo represents me in many ways.  First of all it has my best friend from back home, Jannah, in it.  As you can see, we are trying to take the weirdest picture possible.  It shows that I love to have fun and goof off and also that I try not to take life to seriously.

Viral Video

A viral video is a video that increasingly spreads across the internet gaining popularity.  Websites such as Youtube allow users to upload their personal videos making them available to the world.  Usually a viral video contains something very funny or amazing.  Video phones, Youtube, and also Youtube paying users once their video has so many hits have been three major contributors to making viral videos popular.  Any person anywhere can star in a video that goes viral if it’s good enough.  This means thousands of people are watching you on the computer.  That’s pretty impressive and definitely gives the opportunity of 15 minutes of fame to any regular person.  The video I posted is becoming a viral video.  Right now it has around 400,000 views.  The video is of a very nerdy guy who is trying to be a reporter.  He has no speaking skills, gets very nervous, messes up his sentences and embarrasses himself constantly.  The funny part is that he is just acting and doing it for fun.  Watching how the people react to his questions (when they are questions) is my favorite part.  He has about three other videos of him doing the same thing just in different situations.  All of these videos are going viral quickly.  He was just a normal guy who decided he wanted to share his humor with the world so he made some videos put them on Youtube and now hundreds of thousands of people watch him as he embarrasses himself in public.
